A Picture I Drew For Language Arts...

I call him LeRoy.

Update!

Howdy everyone!

Tomorrow I am leaving my house for a few days and going camping. :) It makes me happy to hear that. I love camping, especially at this one place that we're going (which I will not be telling you - paranoid, maybe, smart, definitely)! It will be fun... It's on a river, so it's really pretty.

That's about all I have to tell you for now. Here's a poem I wrote for your enjoyment:

My Tree Haiku:

The beautiful tree
Flowing, dancing in the breeze
The sky, a sunset

Tootles, for now!

Poetry, Canoeing, and Countdown Clocks!

Hi guys,

Since I've been studying poetry in my Language Arts class, I've been coming across some poems that I really like and I'd just thought I'd share some with you!

My Nostril Smells Awesome
My nostril smells awesome inside of my nose,
a bit like the bloom of a newly-picked rose.
It started this morning--I couldn't say why--
and all day it's smelled like banana cream pie.
It has the aroma of freshly-baked bread
with hot melted butter and blackberry spread,
and maybe the breeze of a warm afternoon,
that follows a thunderstorm early in June.
It smells like a pine forest, right by a lake,
and chocolate chip cookies my mom likes to bake,
like kettle corn pop-popping over a fire,
and laundry, the moment it's out of the dryer.
My nostril smells awesome, so I have a plan
to sit and enjoy it as long as I can.
Don't ask how it happened; I really can't say.
Perhaps it's my finger that's smelling this way.

The Sad Story of Tommy McTivver

Sit back and I'll tell you of Tommy McTivver,
whose parents uncaringly made him eat liver.
I'll try to explain, in a sensitive way,
why Tommy McTivver is not here today.
You see, when you serve up that rubbery meat
it smells like the sweatsocks of stinky old feet.
The room becomes filled with the hideous odor
of all the manure in the state of Dakota.
Poor Tommy was given a plateful of liver
which frightened the dog and which made the cat shiver.
But nevertheless Tommy did what was right;
he cut a big piece and he chewed up a bite.
Then what happened next is too horrid to tell;
his body went stiff and he shrieked as he fell.
The ambulance came and they drove him away
and promised to have him returned in a day.
The driver, however, drove right off the street
when he heard what Tommy had happened to eat.
The man accidentally drove into the river,
and all because Tommy McTivver ate liver.
So everyone died and I'm sorry to say,
this story could happen again here today.
So please, mom and dad, think of Tommy McTivver
and don't make me eat one more bite of this liver.

Possum Crossing

by Nikki Giovanni
Backing out the driveway
the car lights cast an eerie glow
in the morning fog centering
on movement in the rain slick street
Hitting brakes I anticipate a squirrel or a cat or sometimes
a little raccoon
I once braked for a blind little mole who try though he did
could not escape the cat toying with his life
Mother-to-be possum occasionally lopes home . . . being
naturally . . . slow her condition makes her even more ginger
We need a sign POSSUM CROSSING to warn coffee-gurgling neighbors:
we share the streets with more than trucks and vans and
railroad crossings
All birds being the living kin of dinosaurs
think themselves invincible and pay no heed
to the rolling wheels while they dine
on an unlucky rabbit
I hit brakes for the flutter of the lights hoping it's not a deer
or a skunk or a groundhog
coffee splashes over the cup which I quickly put away from me
and into the empty passenger seat
I look . . .
relieved and exasperated ...
to discover I have just missed a big wet leaf
struggling . . . to lift itself into the wind
and live

I just love those poems. :)

Anyways, not too much is going on since I last posted. Fay hit us, but we're all ok, thankfully. And Aly, Lucy and I went canoeing in the backyard! It was so much fun! :D If you go to my Mom's blog (http://www.mimi-dirtroad.blogspot.com/) you can view a picture of us.

A lion and a tiger got out loose a couple of days ago near us, but they are caught now

And we got published in the paper! It's so exciting... It's my dream to be a journalist, so it's especially exciting for me.

But that's about it! ;)

I can't wait until Martial Arts starts up again! Neither can my friend HumbleServant (I hope you know who you are - and yes, I changed the name), so I offered to make a countdown to put on my blog! Well, HumbleServant absolutely loved the idea and told me I should it. So, I did! Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to actually go on my blog, but I did get a link for it!

Countdown Clock!

HumbleServant also told me to write more often, so I hope this makes you happy!

Safe and Sound... :D

Yay! :D
I didn't get whacked, I didn't get whacked...
But those balls came awfully close! But thankfully, I didn't get hurt and neither did my family.

Unfortunately, we missed half the game. My mom called the stadium that night to see if there was going to be a cancellation due to all the rain we've been having and the guy she talked to said no. But he was pretty sure that the game that we were going to would probably start late, because there was another game before the one we were going to (that was a canceled game from a few weeks before). We thought "Oh, perfect!" because we were going to be a little bit late anyways - dad had a job that night. So, we show up around 8:00 (the game originally started at 7:00) and it turns out that the game did start on time and it was actually the fourth inning out of seven! Oh well. We had fun and at least we didn't have to pay for the tickets! ;)

And that's about it. Nothing else is new...
So that's all for now!

Rip'n'Dip, Video Girls, and Baseballs Wacking Me... Sounds interesting, no?

Hey everyone!

Ok, so since my mom and I often post about food, I'm going to tell you about one of the most delicious and ridiculously simple dinners ever: Rip'n'Dip. Here what you do:

1. Get a loaf of bread (the best kind is Italian)

2. Get tomato sauce (mom's is the best)

3. Get some cheese (this is optional)

4. Rip the bread

5. Dip in sauce

6. Put on cheese

7. Sink your teeth into it.

Yummy-yum-yum. :D And I know, it sounds like a version of pizza and it is similar, but it tastes a little different. It's an all around yummy-in-the-tummy dish.

Enough about that. Tonight we are going to a baseball game! Yay! :) Even though I don't understand the game at all and need someone to explain the reason of every step for me, I still enjoy going. The library does a summer reading program every year and this was one of the prizes. Mom, Dad, Aly and I are all doing... Poor Lucy-Lu has to stay home. D:

Today a friend, who I am going to identify as Jonas Person (yeah, ok, so it isn't my best nicknaming day) sent me YouTube videos with new Jonas Brothers songs off their new album, titled A Little Bit Longer. Well, I must say, I really like the song Video Girl. Interesting song. :) And thanks a ton Jonas Person (you know who you are - I hope...)!!

And that's pretty much it. I'll post more tomorrow (or the day after that) about the baseball game. If I don't post tomorrow or the day after that, it means I got whacked in the head with a baseball. Wish me luck...

So...

I have made the conclusion and must say...

Breaking Dawn ROCKED! :D Even if it was weird and seemed like a completely different book from Twilight, it was still awesome.

Ok, so, to start off a extremely happy post, here are the pros and cons (in my honest opinion, of course) on Breaking Dawn:

CONS:

- It was written differently than Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse. It seemed like another author besides Stephenie Meyer!

- Jacob was too lovey-dovey and not the usual crazy Jacob. I mean, in the beginning he was, but when... never mind, in case you haven't read it yet. ;]

- Edward let Jacob, of all the people in the world, use one of his cars! -shakes head- Crazy, I know... And a nice one, too.

PROS:

- Both Bella and Edward got what they wanted.

- Charlie wasn't too upset with Bella's 'changes' (thankfully).

- It had a happy ending!

The release party at Barnes'n'Noble was fun! Not much happened really... All of my friends were there, so of course it was fun. :D I was super happy though, because my luck decided to join me at WaldenBooks. I was number 37 in line to get the book. Well, WaldenBooks was doing a drawing for three people to come up to the front of the line and get their book first. And I was called third! So, in other words, I got my book third. :] Yeah, I was happy, to say the very least. Hey, at least I didn't scream like other people on the line! I walked out of there around 12:05. Also, my book only cost me a little less than $5.00, because I had a gift card and a reward card to WaldenBooks/Borders! That's why I went there to get my book, instead of staying at Barnes'n'Noble. Actually, it didn't matter if I wanted to get my book at Barnes'n'Noble - they ran out of books! Anyone who hadn't pre-ordered the book wouldn't be able to get theirs until Monday.

Nina

P.S. This should've been posted a while ago - sorry. I didn't get a chance to edit it until now!
